Study of Chelating Agent—Surfactant Interactions on the Interphase as Possibly Useful for the Well Stimulation

Chelating agents’ application for EOR and well stimulation is fast growing nowadays. However, reagents of this class have some drawbacks, with high values interfacial tension (IFT) being among them. IFT may be lowered the addition surfactants; however, simultaneous chelating agents surfactants has not yet been widely studied. This paper focuses on experimental theoretical investigation interaction between agent (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, EDTA) anionic cationic types (sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS, trimethynlammonium bromide, DTAB). measurement was performed at ambient conditions, normal octane as reference hydrocarbon to eliminate temperature salinity effects compare surfactant-containing systems. The results show that solutions leads a decrease in value. Moreover, surfactants’ critical micelle concentration lowered, whereas their effectiveness efficiency are increased, which points salting-out nature agents. Molecular dynamics reveal causes closer packing surfactant layer, head groups’ hydration, and, least case specific surfactant–chelating attractive interaction. These molecular-level insights, dependencies, combined methodology useful proper selection fluids real-field operations.
